Owner – manager of Cheetau Safaris, Werner van der Walt and his wife Carmen, both had very different ideas about what they wanted to become when they grew up, but their love for the Bush brought this child called “CHEETAU SAFARIS” into the world.

It was not just the love of the bush, but to work with different people from across the world.

“We see every client coming to hunt at Cheetau Safaris, as family.  We have a saying: ‘You arrive as a client, but leave as family.’ Our sons are also part of Cheetau and when they have time off, they work with us.”

When they started the business in 2008, Werner already had hunting experience, growing up in a Hunting family. With the passing of Werner’s dad in 2008, they started hunting full time. Werner did his Outfitters and PH license at the end of 2008 and they started promoting in 2009. Carmen got tired of being Werner’s driver and she did her PH course in 2018. She had enough of driving all those years, although she still helps out, she also hunts with clients.

In 2023 our youngest son Tyler joined our team as our full time cameraman. He is enjoying every second of what he is doing and the clients just love him. So when you hunt with Cheetau Safaris, he will be with you, creating your hunting memories.

Cheetau Safaris’ home base is situated 20km outside the town of Boshoff in the Free State Province. Just 40min drive from Kimberley airport.  This prime home base is just over 7 000 acres, with over 30 species of African animals. We have the right to hunt all over South Africa but just in the Free State Area we have access to over 200 000acres,  also have concessions in the following countries, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

They mostly concentrate on hunting in South Africa but they cater to the needs of their clients.

Cheetau Safaris offer day trips and there are cultural villages, National Parks (with the Big 5) and Spa’s that can help you enjoy the “African Experience” even more.
